Anthony mezzavilla

Laguna Beach VBC is thrilled to have Coach Anthony join us this year. Originally from Northern California, Coach Anthony found his passion for coaching early. His introduction to coaching began when he was a junior in high school and volunteered his time as a middle school volleyball coach. Since then his dedication and commitment to helping each player, at any and every skill level, grow as an all-around player and person.

Coach Anthony brings with him experience coaching at the high school, collegiate, and club levels. Most recently, Coach Anthony coached at Archer School for Girls in Brentwood, CA (2010-2015) where he guided his team to playoff appearances every year, reaching the CIF-SS Final Four (2013) for the first time in school history. Prior to coaching at Archer Coach Anthony attended UCLA and served as a Volunteer Undergraduate Assistant Coach for the UCLA Women's Volleyball Team. While at UCLA, the women's team made appearances in the Sweet 16, Elite 8, and Final 4. All the while, Coach Anthony learned and grew an immeasurable amount while under the tutelage of legendary coach Andy Banachowski.

Prior to joining LBVBC Coach Anthony spent 8 years coaching club in Southern California at Actyve VBC and Sports Shack VBC. During this time he coached at all age levels and helped his teams to numerous USAV Junior National Bids.

Coach Anthony graduated cum laude from UCLA in 2009, receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in History with a minor in Education. He continues to coach because he enjoys educating young players about the game and watching the moment when training and learnig click - the 'Ah ha' moments.
