Crystal Day-Chitwood


Coach Crystal returns for her 9th season at LBVBC. A Southern California native, Coach Crystal brings with her the knowledge, commitment, and understanding of team dynamics that has translated to success both as a player and coach.

Coach Crystal has been imparting her knowledge to high school and club players for the past 15 years. As the head coach of Troy High School she guided her team to an undefeated record in league (League Champions, 2010), the CIF-SS Finals (2010), a CIF State Southern Regional Championship (2010), and a spot in the CIF State Championship Finals (2010). In recognition for her work that year, Coach Crystal was named OC Register Coach of the Year (finishing with an overall record of 35-3). The following year Coach Crystal was also named OC All-Star Coach for the North team. In addition to coaching at Troy, Coach Crystal has also spent time at Newport Harbor High School and currently coaches at Santa Margarita Catholic High School - two highly regarded programs. As a player Coach Crystal also experienced success. While attending Santa Margarita Catholic High School she helped her team capture both a CIF Championship and CIF State Championship (1999). 

Coach Crystal earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Kinesiology with a minor in Health Science and a Teaching Credential from Long Beach State University. She was a full time teacher and volleyball coach at Santa Margarita Catholic High School before leaving in 2015 to focus on her family. She currently resides in Costa Mesa with her husband and two children, Kyla and Killian (5 and 4 years old).
