Doug Mauro

Born and raised in Laguna Beach, Coach Doug Mauro possesses a passion to teach kids not only the sport of volleyball, but also the life skills that will help them succeed in the future.

A former professional beach volleyball player, Coach Doug has spent the majority of his life either playing or coaching the game. During his professional playing career he competed on both the EVA Pro Tour (1991-1992) and AVP Pro Tour (1994-1995), earning the title of Florida State Champion (1993) and achieving a ranking as high as 48th in the world. It was in the early 1990's that Coach Doug also began his coaching career. Since 1990 he has coached both indoor and outdoor and at a variety of levels. At the high school level he has served as the Head Boys Varsity Coach at Kearney Mesa High School (1991), Head Boys Junior Varsity Coach at Laguna Beach High School (2009), Assistant Girls Varsity Coach at Laguna Beach High School (2013-2014), and Head Boys Junior Varsity Coach at Laguna Hills High School (2015). Coach Doug has also spent 7 years coaching at the club level. Additionally, he was the Head Coach of The Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands National Team (1998-1999) and coached sand volleyball at the South Pacific Games (1999). 

Coach Doug graduated from San Diego State (1991) and works in the real estate industry. He is currently the Head Girls Varsity Volleyball Coach at Laguna Hills High School.
