Coach Kurt Riedl enters his tenth season with LBVBC, having assisted with clinics as well as at the nearly every age level. Coach Kurt contributes an abundance of knowledge accumulated during his involvement as either a player or coach over the past three decades. During his coaching career Coach Kurt has helped his players build a solid foundation of knowledge, fundamentals, and drive to always keep improving that has led many to go on to play at top collegiate programs.
Coach Kurt began coaching club volleyball in 1988 for South Coast Volleyball Club. After spending four years with South Coast he and Coach Mark Rivadeneyra founded Beach Cities Volleyball Club based out of San Clemente, CA. where he coached for three years before committing to a working professional career in project/construction management. In addition to club volleyball, Coach Kurt has also lent his knowledge to various high school programs in the area such as San Clemente, Dana Hills, Capistrano Valley, and University High School.
A local product, Coach Kurt competed for and graduated from Capistrano Valley High School. Known for his strong work ethic, jumping ability, and desire to be a student of the game, he was voted team MVP, earned All-South Coast League and All-CIF Honors, and was named to the Orange County All-Star Team. A person with a passion for the game, when he was not playing indoors Coach Kurt was competing in beach or grass tournaments. As a beach player he earned his AAA rating and competed in international and professional events.
Although he was provided with the opportunity to play indoor volleyball professionally overseas, Coach Kurt chose to stay stateside and complete his Civil Engineering Degree at UC Irvine. He has worked with the same project/construction management company for the past 25 years.
